I recently ran into a network upgrade project where a data center was struggling with mixed server performance across older and newer ProLiant systems. The real challenge was finding the right fit for each generation without causing downtime.

That’s when I started digging into the HPE lan module compatibility landscape for 2026. What I found was surprising some older Gen9 servers still support newer modules with firmware updates, while Gen10+ systems offer much smoother plug-and-play integration.

Has anyone else faced compatibility surprises while upgrading ProLiant servers in hybrid environments?
